Outdoor Leaders

Outdoor education resources for community partners are important because they can promote a sense of connection and stewardship towards the natural environment. By engaging in hands-on learning experiences, community partners can develop a deeper understanding of local ecosystems and the importance of conservation efforts. These programs can also foster teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities among participants. By working together to protect the environment, community partners can build stronger relationships with each other and with nature. Additionally, outdoor education resources for community partners can provide opportunities for physical activity and stress relief – both of which are important for overall well-being. Ultimately, these programs can help create a more environmentally conscious and sustainable community for all.

Shifting Towards Equity: Community Visioning for Outdoor and Environmental Learning during and after COVID-19
A brief summary of the July 2020 virtual summit, which was attended by over 130 environmental and outdoor educators from across the country. Includes links to presentation videos, resources and tools. Hosted by the NAAEE affiliate network members in New Mexico, Colorado and Maine.

Teaching Science and Engineering during a Crisis
Describes how to apply the Framework for K-12 Science Education: Practices, Crosscutting Concepts, and Core Ideas in a time of great uncertainty such as the COVID-19 pandemic. This Framework is the foundational document for science standards in 44 US states and for the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
